In our first session together, here's what you can expect
After meeting with you and conducting an evaluation of your emotional needs, an individualized care plan will be developed based on your goals and current challenges. You will receive timely support in learning effective coping strategies to help address emotional discomfort as early as possible. You will be introduced to and guided in the use of evidence-based techniques such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, grounding strategies, and mindfulness practices to help reduce emotional distress and support meaningful, lasting change. In addition, an assessment will be conducted to determine whether community resources may be beneficial. Appropriate referrals and resources will be provided when needed to help reduce situational stress and support your overall well-being.
The treatment methods and tools I utilize
I have experience utilizing interventions from cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, solutions-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, positive psychology approaches, and mindfulness practices. Client's can expect to learn effective tools to utilize such as cognitive restructuring, mindfulness, behavior activation, and others to address their emotional distress.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My therapeutic approach is client-centered and grounded in compassion, authenticity, and deep empathy. I strive to create a supportive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. Through this approach, clients are encouraged to explore their experiences, strengthen their sense of self, and work toward greater life satisfaction. I believe therapy should honor each individual’s lived experience, personal strengths, and unique story. In addition to providing therapeutic support, I draw on my knowledge of community resources to help connect clients with services that may further support their well-being.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have had the privilege of supporting a diverse range of clients, including college students; women navigating life challenges; survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse; gay men (MSM); immigrants and first-generation individuals; adults and older adults; people experiencing significant life transitions; and individuals healing from difficult or abusive relationships. My undergraduate studies also provide a strong foundation for understanding the geopolitical factors that influence migration from Latin America to the United States, as well as the emotional stress and complexities individuals may experience when leaving their country of origin. My current practice focuses on providing counseling services to adults. At this time, I do not offer couples counseling.

Teresa Haro has helped me a great deal, and is an excellent therapist in many ways. She’s very client centered, helps me analyze situations with a bigger picture, and brainstorm solutions. She’s knowledgeable and able to provide resources and avenues I would not have considered on my own. My life is much better for having been lucky enough to be paired with her.
