First session
Paul is very calm and reassuring. Paul has had years of hands-on experience with addiction, trauma, and severe mental illness. He is known for his gentle approach but is driven to help individuals grow in their understanding of themselves and their mental health.
Strengths
Paul knows he has been mentored by many of the best in the field of psychology and is grateful for the many who have helped him become an effective clinician for those struggling with life issues, mental illness, addictions, and trauma.
Ideal clients
I have years of experience with addictions, sexual and chemical. I also work with couples, family trauma, depression, and PTSD. I use CBT, DBT, Internal Family Systems, Gottman Method, Christian Counseling, and premarital counseling. I have worked with individuals with deep addiction and years of trauma. I often represent men in divorce and court-related matters. I use assignments and individual treatment plans to help with recovery.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Paul uses researched worksheets and assessments that help patients discover more about themselves and how to move forward in their goals to achieve healing in their minds and bodies.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Paul uses DBT for borderline personality disorder (BPD), bipolar disorder I, and II, emotional disorders, addiction, and trauma.
Interpersonal
Paul is a practicing Christian and lay minister in his local church working under his pastor. He provides counseling using current mental health science based techniques through the lens of my faith. Paul and his wife Melissa also host several marriage and family seminars yearly.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Paul has worked with ACT for years. This is the preferred treatment for addictions, trauma, long-term abuse, and grief.
Trauma-Focused CBT
Trauma is a major piece of many of Paul's patients over the years. It has shaped the way they process each day, each moment. Learning how to detach from trauma has personally helped him offer support to those that need a supportive trauma based approach.
