I feel each individual enters the therapeutic relationship in their own distinctive way. I strongly believe that every person is the author of their own story and unique in their narrative of what change looks like for them on a personal level. I am passionate about helping people make change both big and small that will enhance their sense of seIf and ability to create more meaning and authenticity in their lives and relationships.
In our first session together we will start with introductions and building the therapeutic relationship. We will then discuss any specific challenges you're facing and potential changes you desire. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I love to work collaboratively with my clients on their wants and needs for positive change and growth. I feel whole heartedly that the therapeutic relationship is a powerful tool in helping people create a better understanding and relationship with oneself, which in turn enhances their relationships with all those around them.
CBT has helped numerous clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their feelings. With CBT a therapist is able to help one recognize how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. That knowledge is then used to change negative thinking patterns, in turn improving one's well being.
I feel that each individual is able to “rewrite” their life story for a future that reflects who they really are, what they are capable of, and what their purpose is, separate from their problems. Narrative therapy is a form of psychotherapy that seeks to help patients identify their values and the skills associated with them. It provides the patient with knowledge of their ability to live these values so they can effectively confront current and future problems. The therapist helps clients see how they are the experts regarding their own life and how they can uncover the dreams, values, goals, and skills that define who they are, separate from their problems.
