Great to meet you! I'm Amanda of HeartTalk Christian Counseling. Have you been struggling to keep your head above water, worried that somehow you will miss something? Have you been feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, and anxious? I have been working with individual clients for the last ten years to create a safe and positive space to work through life’s difficulties, understand important issues, learn new and effective coping skills, and develop full relationships to lead a more authentic life. I believe in working together to help you create attainable treatment goals and explore areas of growth. In our sessions together, I will bring my experience, compassion, and evidenced-based techniques so that you can overcome the things that have been holding you back from thriving.
The first session is about getting to know you and what your expectations are for therapy. There is no pressure to go really deep, but just focus on what your goals are and how you would like to approach treatment. If you think we might be a good fit, I encourage you to reach out today.
My practice focus has been to provide warmth, empathy, and a holistic perspective to the issues that my clients are facing.
I can offer faith-based practices that includes but is not limited to the use of prayer and scriptures. We will work together to grow in Christlikeness through the skillful application of the Word of God in the power of God's Spirit.
CBT operates on the foundation that psychological problems stem from faulty or unhelpful ways of thinking and learned patterns of problematic behaviors. Together we will work to recognize the cognitive distortions in thinking that are creating problems, gain a better understanding of the behaviors and how to challenge them, and utilize problem-solving skills to help you cope with various situations.
DBT functions under the concept that we are ultimately doing the best that we can but that we have developed ineffective reactions through repetitive use and that we need to change our behaviors in a safe way in order to develop more effective ways of responding.
