This is my third decade providing mental health services and interventions. My approach is genuine and authentic, warm and welcoming. I hope to help others appreciate what is sometimes the absurdity and incongruity of life's situations. For me, Grow is secondary employment and I continue practice in a county mental health plan delivering complex interventions for youth and families. I am a clinical supervisor and lead several teams providing intensive community based interventions, outreach, and supports. I offer my time in the evenings.
Building trust and rapport is a gateway to everything that comes later, which can include irreverence, sarcasm, and I hope laughter. Let's start with the basics and see where things lead. Expect some questions and gentle exploration.
I would say I am strength based, solution oriented, authentic and genuine, and humorous. Laughter is such good medicine.
As a Bible-believing Christian we need help from above in all aspects of life and in appreciating our generous Creator has given us a road map to traverse a narrow path.
So much of our world is problem focused and its nice to notice what is right in our lives and what is working well. Its easy in chaos and turmoil to forget what is already working for us, what is healthy.
Distress is usually a paradox and accepting two things are generally true about a given situation allows perspective and is a gateway toward improving healthy coping skills and developing irreverence, humor, and resilience.
Rather prefer the word Integrative instead of eclectic to denote multi-modal approaches woven together.
With Narrative Therapy the problem is the problem not the individual and in this model we write a new preferred story of what the future can be.
