About me

I’m Dr. Ashley Morris, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional licensed in Florida and Arizona. With 18 years of experience, I help adolescents, young adults, and families heal from trauma, anxiety, and depression. My approach blends evidence-based therapies—such as EMDR, CBT, and DBT—with mind-body practices like mindfulness and movement. I believe mental health is connected to the whole person, so I consider physical, emotional, and relational well-being in every plan. In addition to my private practice, I founded The Whole Elephant, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to expanding holistic mental health care and wellness services in underserved communities. Whether you’re navigating school stress, major life changes, or long-standing wounds, I provide a compassionate space to uncover strengths, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first meeting is about creating safety and understanding. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your hopes for change, and any challenges you’d like to work through. I’ll explain how therapy works and answer your questions, while we begin identifying strengths and goals. You’ll leave with a clearer sense of direction and a plan for your next steps—without pressure or judgment.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Clients appreciate my ability to blend evidence-based therapies—like EMDR, CBT, and DBT—with mindfulness, movement, and nutrition for mental health. I create a warm, collaborative space that honors culture and identity while helping clients regulate emotions, heal from trauma, and build skills for daily life. My years of supervision, teaching, and community mental-health work mean I bring both clinical depth and practical tools to every session.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with adolescents, and adults who are ready to break cycles of stress, anxiety, or trauma and want to feel whole again. Many of my clients are navigating life transitions, strained relationships, or the pressures of school, work, and identity. You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from your true self. Together, we’ll explore the roots of your struggles, nurture self-compassion, and strengthen the mind-body connection so you can feel grounded and confident. I welcome those seeking culturally sensitive care and a safe space to bring all parts of their story.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I use EMDR to help clients safely process and resolve distressing memories that continue to affect their thoughts, emotions, and physical well-being. Through bilateral stimulation and guided reprocessing, clients can reduce the emotional intensity of past experiences and develop new, empowering beliefs. This approach supports deep healing from trauma and promotes a greater sense of calm and resilience.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I incorporate CBT to help clients identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns that influence mood and behavior. Together, we examine the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, and practice practical strategies—such as reframing negative thoughts, building problem-solving skills, and using behavioral activation—to improve emotional balance and day-to-day functioning.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT helps clients build psychological flexibility by learning to accept difficult thoughts and emotions while staying aligned with their personal values. In sessions, I guide clients through mindfulness practices and values-based goal setting, supporting them in creating a life that feels meaningful even in the presence of challenges.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I approach therapy with a deep respect for each client’s cultural identity, lived experience, and community context. This means acknowledging the impact of systemic factors such as racism, oppression, and generational trauma, while creating a safe, affirming space where clients feel seen and valued. Interventions are adapted to honor cultural strengths, traditions, and language.

Mind-body approach

I recognize the profound connection between mental and physical health and integrate practices that engage the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Techniques such as breathwork, grounding, movement, nutrition for mental health, and mindfulness are woven into therapy to reduce stress, enhance emotional regulation, and support overall wellness.
