Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Texas and California. I am also a Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider in Texas. I completed graduate school at Texas A&M in Corpus Christi, TX. During internship and after graduation I worked with primarily adults undergoing major life changes. From Emerging Adults (18-25-ish) learning how to navigate the new expectations they are facing, mid-life changes including sexuality, children, careers, relationship types, and all the chaos of life, to end of life decisions and stresses as parents pass on, retirement choices have to be made, grandchildren raised, disease, and loss of friends and family. For persons who have spent part of their lives in jails and prisons, navigating the world that changed while you were not active in it is often difficult, helping you take those steps to understanding your new normal is my privilege.
In our first session we will explore what brings you to therapy. With some time spent on your personal background and how you are feeling today, we will work out the beginning of our treatment plan and have a solid place to jump off of!
With a solid sense of your worth, I bring to the table a consistent belief in you as a human of worth. My sense of compassion, empathy, and therapeutic humor allow me to support you during your time of change.
As a humanistic counselor I believe completely in each person being the expert at their own life. All of us are striving to become the best version of ourselves and my job as your counselor is to listen to what you are saying, thinking, and feeling - while giving you the feedback to help you hear what it is you are saying - in different words and from a different perspective - this helps you to see what step to take next.
By integrating Choice Theory with the Humanistic approach to therapy together we use your expert opinion of your life with the truism that you and only you have the power to control yourself and make choices that help you to guide your life in the direction that you want.
