Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor from Pennsylvania. I received my Master's Degree in Counseling from Duquesne University. I have been licensed for over 20 years. I have an extensive trauma therapy background and have been certified as a trauma professional and EMDR clinician. I have completed training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I work from an inclusive platform for therapeutic relationships with clients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I have a very active therapy technique that provides an environment for expressing feelings and developing effective coping skills. I am client-focused and infuse humor as appropriate. I am also active in the use of Mindfulness techniques.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

It is essential for me to foster a safe, non-judgmental, and inclusive therapeutic space where clients of all backgrounds and experiences can feel heard, seen, and valued.

My treatment methods

EMDR

EMDR is a trauma-focused therapy. It can be extremely helpful to address negative self-beliefs, anxieties, and PTSD. I am EMDRIA certified. EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS is a transformative tool that conceives of every human being as a system of protective and wounded inner parts led by a core Self. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged. It knows how to heal. IFS is frequently used as an evidence-based psychotherapy, helping people heal by accessing and healing their protective and wounded inner parts. It is also a way of understanding personal and intimate relationships and stepping into life with the 8 Cs: confidence, calm, compassion, courage, creativity, clarity, curiosity, and connectedness.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a type of talk therapy. It's based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). But it's specially adapted for people who feel emotions very intensely. DBT aims to help you understand and accept your difficult feelings, learn skills to manage these feelings and become able to make positive changes in your life. 'Dialectical' means trying to understand how two things that seem opposite could both be true. For example, accepting yourself and changing your behaviour might feel contradictory. But DBT teaches that you can achieve both of these goals together. I infused DBT into most of my therapy work.
