Nice to meet you-- I'm Matt Raspanti, a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) with six years experience in the field. Wherever you may be at in your journey, I look forward to joining you on your path towards greater mental and emotional well-being. I create a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore your thoughts and feelings, and prioritize understanding things from your viewpoint. My main goal is to empower you as we collaborate to examine the impact of your experiences and stressors from new perspectives, to help you heal, and grow.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Each session is an opportunity to gain clarity and acceptance, as you continue to learn how to be with yourself in the present moment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I welcome getting to know you and your story, recognizing the courage it takes to choose what may be more difficult in the near term though more helpful in the long run.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I tailor my therapeutic interventions to meet your specific needs, and take a holistic approach. I use cognitive behavioral interventions to collaborate with you to break things down to build awareness of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to improve self awareness, interpersonal communication and coping skills, processing in session how these new perspectives impact your self talk and relationship with others. As fits for you, we will integrate a mindfulness-based approach, including relaxation as well as grounding strategies.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and commitment strategies I use are exploring with you how to begin to, or moreso be willing to experience, difficult feelings, identify and clarify values, learn the benefit of, and practice cognitive defusion, and take committed action and check in on progress during sessions.
