Hi. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Houston, Texas and owner of CAPRICORN THERAPEUTIC SERVICES PLLC. I received my Masters of Human Relations (MHR) from the University of Oklahoma in 2007 and obtained by first license to practice as a Licensed Professional (LPC) in Oklahoma in 2010 and have been practicing since then. In 2021. I became licensed to practice in Texas and had my first experience in online counseling. In 2023, I obtained Nevada LPC license. I strive to create a nonjudmental, and welcoming environment for young and older adults struggling with various life challenges which include relationship issues, depression, anxiety, and PTSD; to explore the root causes of these challenges and work towards achieving a great mental-being. Therapy is the beginning of an individual's journey to living a full and meaningful life, after experiencing different challenges in life that got them stuck. Working with individuals on this journey is truly a privilege and one that I take with the greatest compassion and understanding of a client's courage in taking this first step. I am deeply empathetic and genuinely care about the wellbeing of my clients. Looking for a therapist? Look no further.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we'll start with brief introductions then dive into the specific challenges. the goals desired to be achieved in therapy. and then collaborate with them to develop tailored plans that leads to measurable progress in achieving the set goals. It will be communicated to the client that the exploration of strategies to be deployed to achieve the goals may remain, change, or new ones added as therapy progresses due to new situations arising with the client. It will also be communicated to the client that the root cause(s) of their challenges will be will be the first step to work on in follow-up sessions. Clients will experience a warm and engaging therapeutic relationship that makes them comfortable throughout the duration of the follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths include my ability to develop a strong therapeutic relationship with clients which is critical for their ability to respond and heal, active listening skill, effective communication skills, compassion. sense of humor, authenticity, open-mindedness, the ability to walk clients through their struggles, and the ability to recognize each client's unique situation and treat them where they are.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I"ve been using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice for the past 14 years. CBT is a structured, goal-oriented and proven approach which involves collaboration with clients to jointly come up with the best goals tailored towards resolution of presented issues in a limited number of sessions. I have used it to help clients manage mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and emotional concerns, such as coping with grief, stress. Clients are able to examine their thoughts and actions and understand how their thoughts affect their actions. Through CBT, they are able to unlearn negative thoughts and behaviors and learn to adopt healthier thinking patterns and habits. leading to a less anxious and stressed life.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

This approach regards clients as experts on their lives and thus determine the direction and dept of therapy. Clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, feelings, and experiences while I listen intently and provide a nonjudmental environment conducive to honest self-exploration, and empowerment.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

My experience with this method helps clients work on the future they want and learn what can be done differently by using new skills, ideas and strategies, rather than focusing on the problem.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Culturally sensitive therapy is an approach to psychotherapy that empasizes the therapist's understanding of a client's background and belief system. This approach makes it possible to learn about a person's background and core belief systems rather than making assumptions. I have had many years of fulfilling experience working with a wide array of clients from different cultural backgounds. My acute sensitivity to multi/cross cultural factors had been phenomenal in my practice.
