My journey to becoming a therapist began with a deep curiosity about human relationships and a desire to help others navigate life’s challenges. Early on, I was drawn to the complexities of emotional connections and how they shape our well-being. This led me to pursue formal education in psychology and counseling, where I developed a passion for working with individuals, couples, and families. Over the years, I gained experience in various therapeutic settings, refining my skills and understanding of the unique struggles people face, particularly in relationships, intimacy, and personal growth. Becoming a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist felt like a natural progression, allowing me to use my compassion, empathy, and expertise to empower others. After 24 years in the field, I remain deeply committed to helping clients find healing, fulfillment, and meaningful change.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In their first session with me, clients can expect a warm, welcoming atmosphere where they are invited to share their story at their own comfort level. I’ll begin by asking about their reasons for seeking therapy, as well as their background, challenges, and what they hope to achieve. This session is a chance for clients to express any initial concerns, ask questions, and get a feel for the therapeutic process. I’ll also introduce my approach, explaining how we can work together to create a tailored treatment plan. The primary goal is to establish a safe, trusting space where clients feel respected, understood, and supported as we begin their journey toward positive change.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider are my compassion, empathy, and commitment to creating a tailored, respectful approach for each client. With over two decades of experience, I’ve developed a deep understanding of relationship dynamics, family systems, and the nuanced challenges individuals face. I am skilled at fostering a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients feel genuinely heard and supported. My ability to blend therapeutic techniques allows me to adapt to each client’s needs, empowering them to explore difficult emotions and make meaningful progress toward their goals. My dedication to each person’s unique journey toward growth and fulfillment is central to my work.

My treatment methods

Humanistic

The humanistic psychology approach emphasizes an individual's inherent capacity for growth, self-understanding, and self-direction. Rooted in concepts developed by Carl Rogers, Abraham Maslow, and others, it views each person as unique and capable of realizing their full potential. This method focuses on the whole person and values the client’s experience as central to the healing process, placing importance on empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity in the therapeutic relationship. In my practice, I apply humanistic principles by creating a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely heard and valued. This helps them explore and understand their experiences without fear of criticism. For instance, when working with clients dealing with relationship issues or career difficulties, I encourage them to express their thoughts and feelings openly, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-trust. By guiding clients toward self-discovery, we explore what they truly want in life, often leading to a more profound sense of fulfillment and purpose. The focus on self-awareness, choice, and personal responsibility in humanistic therapy aligns well with supporting clients through life transitions or personal conflicts. This approach allows clients to move beyond limiting beliefs or external expectations, cultivating a stronger, more positive sense of self.
