What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session, the “intake session,” you can expect a supportive environment where we get to know each other. I understand that reaching out for therapy is a big step, so I aim to make it as comfortable as possible. This session allows you to share your story and experiences and understand how we might work together to support your goals. The intake session focuses on building trust and creating a compassionate, non-judgmental space for you to express your thoughts and feelings. Therapy works best when there’s a genuine connection, so we’ll determine if we’re a good fit. If you feel nervous, that’s normal—I encourage you to share any concerns. I’ll ask questions to understand your background, including family, relationships, career, and major life events. This is about understanding your unique context, not labeling. We’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, your goals, and any past mental health history or coping strategies. Through this session, we’ll outline a roadmap tailored to your needs, setting the stage for your journey toward growth and healing.

In our work together, I’ll use Mindfulness-Based Therapy to help you reconnect with the present moment and break free from the grip of negative thoughts and self-criticism. Mindfulness is all about being aware of what's happening right now—your thoughts, emotions, and even your physical sensations—without judging them. By cultivating this non-judgmental awareness, we can start to understand your triggers, shift how you relate to difficult emotions, and learn to respond more intentionally rather than react automatically. Together, we’ll work on improving communication skills, setting healthy boundaries, and building stronger, more fulfilling relationships. We’ll work to understand and strengthen your support system so that it better aligns with your goals and helps you feel more grounded and connected.
