I am a Counselor and Psychotherapist. I come from a long clinical background in several different hospitals. I help people with many different types of problems in a widely multicultural practice. I have been in this business for a long time. I work in many different methodologies. My Clients are extraordinarily interesting to me, and they are a major reason that I love my work.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session, I will probably ask a lot of questions. Two years ago, a new and irritable Client said to me, “I do not know the answer to any of the questions you are asking me.” I said, “Let’s see… I am asking you questions about your life and experiences and feelings, and you don’t know the answer. I think we have work to do.” She is still my Client.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I listen well. I have an alarmingly acute memory of all that is said. My friends sometimes dread it. I always have a lot of ideas. If you don’t like one, perhaps you will like the next. I have not yet run out of ideas.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

If you have an issue or a problem that you want to work on, come and talk to me. I will help you look within yourself and find your answer.

My treatment methods

Adlerian

A focus on development and adjustment. What was it like growing up to be you?

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Thoughts create moods, behaviors, and experiences. What you are thinking right now is creating your future. If your thoughts are not hepful ones, you can change them; and I can help you do that.

Psychodynamic

I come from a background of analysis, including Psychoanalysis. The early influences, family and otherwise, that shaped you are influencing you today. We need to know what they are. The first woman you ever met... the first man you ever met... the first family you ever experienced... ??? They are influencing you in ways you probably remember but have not fully used to understand yourself.

Narrative

Journaling and even verbally telling stories about your past can be key parts of owning and understanding who you are today. As you write and read what you wrote in your journal, your narrative will instruct you and clarify your human journey.

Hypnotherapy

I am a Clinical Hypnotist who uses Hypnosis when my Clients request that to help them relax and breathe to facilitate our work. I do not believe in the use of Hypnosis to recover memories of Trauma. It is best used to bolster relaxation and confidence.
