Hola my name is Alma Flores, LMHC. I am originally from Puerto Rico I have been living and working in Massachusetts since 2007. I have 17 years of experience working as a Mental Health Counselor with both Hispanic and English speaking community. I do Individual, couple's and family therapy. I utilize techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotional Regulation to teach coping skills and new patterns of thinking. These skills allow people to live a healthier and beautiful life that every person deserves.
During the first session we will start with an introductions of all those involve in this journey including this clinician. We will continue with identifying and exploring the symptoms and reasons for reaching out for therapy we will set up a goal to reach and describe what the process would be to reach it.
As a clinician I am an empathetic listener who try to connect with other with a non-judgmental and open minded way and try to create a safe environment where people can express their thoughts and emotions to learn how to cope with them.
For 17 years I have been using CBT to help client learn new ways to see their daily struggles, their life and that way changing patterns to create a healthier decision making.
Client's who suffer from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder using this techniques can work on the life vision they have so they can let go and learn new emotional and thoughts patterns that would benefit the clients. I've working with this technique since 2018 and has gave great results to alleviate the symptoms that the person has.
One of the cool thing about mindfulness is been able to acknowledge our own emotions and how our thoughts affect those in a journey to change those thoughts and emotions to have healthier ones.
