I am a licensed mental health counselor who seeks to help clients gain insight into their mental health and/or substance abuse issues. Part of my focus is on empowering clients through self-awareness and self-compassion. I understand the power of dynamics and also work with couples and families to find cohesion. Faith-based counseling is available as well. Read

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Getting to know you is my primary goal and objective. In our first session we discuss the nature of therapy, what your expectations are and an understanding of the role that you want me to play as your therapist. We will complete a Biopsychosocial assessment that helps me to understand you in various categories, and from this we develop interventions, tools, activities that can help you to address your presenting concerns and reasons for coming to therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My Greatest strength as a provider is to "torment" that thing that "torments" my clients. Empowerment, and helping my clients to identify their personal strengths and accomplishments is a passion of mine. I believe strongly in the gift of wisdom, and believe that no client is defined by the complications they have faced. I enjoy educating my clients on theories, and mental health interventions so that they are able to gain deeper insight into underlying factors that might contribute to their issues, and then encourage the change in mindset that would inhibit growth.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have come to discover that our thoughts, feelings, and actions predict how we experience the world around us. At times, with experience, we can develop maladaptive patterns of thoughts and behaviors that can trigger difficult feels that may also give us a challenging experience in life. CBT helps us to become aware of any irrational thoughts, feelings and behaviors that might contribute to our dysfunction in life, and learning ways to change our ways of thinking can help us to have a different view of the world, others and also ourselves, helping us to cope in healthier ways, and promotes healthy relationships and interactions with others.

Christian Counseling

Faith Based counseling is important to those clients who feel that God is major in their lives. If we are seeking to grow, mature, and heal then we can not neglect the influence of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. If faith-based counseling is a desire of yours, you are then able to learn and strengthen coping strategies through the Word of God. In these sessions we will apply biblical references to your approach in life so that are you not just strengthened mentally and physically, but also spiritually.

Couples Counseling

Any couple that decides to work on a relationship is a couple that is ready to learn and strengthen skills to become better as one. My aim in couples counseling is to increase insight and understanding into those thoughts, feelings and behaviors that each person experiences and ensure that there is open and healthy communication. I believe that Emotions, communication, boundaries and respect are just a few of the major components of the relationship and through interventions/skills/homework assignments couples are able to grow and mature in a place where working together becomes easier and goals of the relationship becomes attainable.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have had the opportunity to be apart of a DBT consultation team and have gained much insight and knowledge into the interventions associated. DBT is developed to help individuals in the area of Emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal relationships. Mindfulness is an extremely useful tool that are taught as part of my interventions with aims to reduce impulsive decision making and behaviors to promote awareness and ability to gain better control over emotions, as well as establishing healthy relationships.
