My Professional Background and Counseling Philosophy My passion for mental health has shaped my work with individuals, families, and communities across a variety of settings. Over the years, I have had the privilege of collaborating with clients to enhance their well-being, drawing on my experience across diverse settings, including hospital Emergency Departments, psychiatric units, community organizations, and mental health agencies. My professional journey includes supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, assisting those facing mental illness, and working with people who have experienced homelessness and hopelessness. I have also provided both individual and group therapy within clinical settings. Counseling Philosophy At the core of my counseling practice is the belief that meaningful change occurs through collaboration and purposeful effort. I view my clients as the experts in their own lives and encourage them to take an active role in their treatment by investing time and energy in the process. Together, we identify the outcomes that matter most to the client and work to ensure consistent progress toward those goals. My approach centers on empowering clients by fostering self-awareness and resilience, and I am dedicated to ensuring every individual feels heard, understood, and supported throughout their therapeutic journey. Commitment to Client Autonomy What distinguishes my counseling style is a steadfast commitment to honoring each client’s autonomy. For example, I have worked with clients who struggle with anxiety and self-doubt. By collaborating closely, we identify the client’s unique strengths and develop practical coping strategies tailored to their needs. As clients move through this process, they gradually regain their confidence and begin taking meaningful steps toward their desired outcomes. This experience reinforced for me the importance and effectiveness of a supportive, empowering therapeutic alliance. In every interaction, my focus is on achieving the best possible results and facilitating lasting, positive change.
In our first session, we'll get to know one another, discuss your goals, and explore how we can work together to achieve them, providing a clear and supportive starting point. Throughout the process, you remain in control of your journey, making choices that align with your values and hopes. I will support you as you explore the changes that matter most to you, ensuring your preferences and autonomy guide each step we take together.
Everyone experiences grief, depression, and anxiety at one time or another in their life. Have you ever felt alone in a room full of family and friends? Have you ever felt so sad that you even felt guilty crying around others? Have you ever felt like fleeing for your life in a crowded, open space? I have experienced similar situations, and I understand that they can be both intimidating and isolating. My own journey provides some insight into how others may experience these emotions. I have gained experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, developing effective communication skills grounded in empathy. I value each client’s abilities and respect their autonomy to support progress in therapy.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) has allowed clients to acknowledge their expertise in their own lives which leads to increased self-confidence and self-efficacy. I work with clients as they focus on identifying and amplifying their strengths and resources to help them achieve their best outcomes.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Our well-being is determined by how we think. A well-balanced life is all about positive and hopeful cognition. Our thoughts tell us and others who we are because our thinking is ultimately reflected in our emotions and behavior. I work with clients to change maladaptive beliefs and negative cognition to live a more positive and hopeful lifestyle.

When I saw Ms. Jasper's profile after joining Grow Therapy, she exuded a nurturing, caring presence—stern yet graceful, holding you accountable while empowering you at the same time presence. She has been nothing short of wonderful and helpful throughout my journey, and I cannot be anymore thankful for being guided to select her as my provider.

I've been seeing Ms. Ameta for a couple of months now and she's absolutely amazing! She's warm and empowering, I think her approach to therapy is so lovely because it makes me feel confident that I already have everything I need, I just need to open my eyes and realize it. She's really been helping me unlearn the problematic thought patterns that I have allowed to hold me back, and I truly appreciate her time and care. I'm so glad that I chose her for my first experience with therapy!
