My name is Eric Yip and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York City. I received my Masters from the Alliance School of Counseling at Nyack College. Becoming a therapist is a childhood dream come true for me and with fifteen years of experience in the mental health field, I have worked in various areas, ranging from depression and personality disorders to child development and end-of-life issues.
Therapy is a space where one can develop a deeper understanding of themselves, learn how to manage difficult emotions, and, receive guidance and support while working towards your goals.
Being American born Chinese, I struggled with my identity growing up. I wasn't Chinese enough for the Chinese kids, but too Chinese for everyone else. This led to me being bullied to the point of not wanting to live anymore. Fortunately, my 5th-grade teacher found the "good bye" letter I wrote, and my parents soon afterwards enrolled me in therapy. Over the course of a year, I gained valuable life skills and coping mechanisms that have stayed with me to this day. This experience made me realize that I wanted to help others in similar situations, and decided to pursue my career in therapy.
I utilize an eclectic approach, allowing me to draw upon a diverse range of therapeutic techniques and strategies to address the specific needs and goals of each individual.
