I’m Dan, a dedicated and compassionate therapist with a unique background as a military veteran and first responder. My experience has instilled in me a deep understanding of the profound challenges faced by individuals who have experienced trauma, crisis, and loss. This has fueled my passion for helping others navigate their own paths to healing and resilience. It’s not easy, but I’ve seen it work!
Our first session is what I like to call the Getting To Know You phase, and that goes both ways. It's an opportunity to discuss what brings you into therapy at this time, what's been going on in your life lately, and touching on some of your history if it comes up. It's also a great time for you to learn a little about me, my background and approach to us working together.
I like to believe I bring a mix of supportive, active listening and actionable problem solving to my work. You're the expert of your life, not me, so I am here to work with you to achieve those goals you've set for yourself in therapy. We all want to feel better overall; my job is to help however I can to get yourself there!
This is a psychotherapy approach I use aimed at reducing the risk of future suicidal behaviors in adults and adolescents who have recently attempted suicide.
Similar to CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy is used to treat PTSD and focuses on the connections between thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and bodily sensations.
I am trained in CBT for multiple treatment goals, including reduction of anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, and substance use disorder.
I have worked within the framework of Dialectical Behavior Therapy for the last 4 years, particularly with veterans suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder and those involved with justices system in need of enhanced coping strategies.
I'm currently able to provide EMDR therapy to help reduce the severity, vividness, and lasting negative effects of traumatic memories.
