What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session I will share my approach to therapy with you. Outline the the therapeutic process including confidentiality. Discuss what brings you to therapy and what are your expected outcomes. I will identify any immediate need or concern that may require attention. I will ask questions about your previous history with therapy. I will access your current mod, thoughts and any past or present symptoms. This can often change depending on the client's current need. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions regarding my approach to therapy and anything else that you think would make your first visit successful. Life is a journey itself without a handbook, however we can can create our own narrative.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a therapist is my ability to create a safe and trusting environment for clients. I deeply believe in the power of connection and empathy, which allows clients to feel heard, understood, and validated. By fostering an open and non-judgmental space, I help clients explore their emotions, challenges, and goals, knowing that they can be vulnerable without fear of criticism. This rapport-building creates a foundation for growth and healing. Additionally, I utilize a blend of evidence-based therapeutic techniques tailored to each individual’s unique needs. Whether through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, or strength-based approaches, I adapt my style to match the client’s pace and circumstances. This flexibility ensures that therapy is both effective and empowering, helping clients work through difficulties at a pace that feels comfortable to them. Ultimately, my commitment to continuous learning and personal growth as a therapist ensures that I remain equipped to support my clients in the most compassionate and knowledgeable way possible. I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals in changing the narrative for their lives and I look forward to being a part of your journey.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my practice, I work closely with clients to identify their specific thought patterns, especially those that contribute to their distress. Together, we examine the underlying beliefs that drive these thoughts and explore how they may be unrealistic or unhelpful.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As a therapist, I take time to understand the client’s cultural identity, values, and beliefs. This might involve direct conversations about cultural preferences, customs, and expectations or actively learning about the client's cultural background through research, reflection, and consultation.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In my practice, Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), developed by Carl Rogers, is a foundational approach that emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship, empathy, and the inherent potential of the individual for growth and self-actualization. I integrate the core principles of this approach to create a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without fear of criticism. I strive to provide an environment of warmth and acceptance, where the client feels valued without judgment. This involves accepting the client as they are, with all their strengths and challenges. My goal is to create a space where they can feel free to express themselves openly and authentically, which is crucial for building trust.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a therapeutic approach that emphasizes finding solutions to present problems rather than focusing on the root causes or history of those problems. It’s an effective approach for working with clients who are motivated to make changes quickly and efficiently. In my practice I co-create specific measurable goals with the client, identify small clear, and achievable goals that they want to work towards. We work together to accomplish that goal.

Strength-Based

In my practice, I integrate strength-based therapy to empower clients by focusing on their existing skills, resilience, and resources. This approach fosters self-esteem, autonomy, and personal growth by highlighting the positive qualities individuals already possess, rather than concentrating on deficits or challenges. I work closely with clients to explore their past successes, personal values, and the qualities that have helped them navigate challenges. This involves not just focusing on obvious strengths, but also uncovering hidden resources, like determination, creativity, or empathy. By acknowledging these strengths, clients are empowered to recognize their capacity for growth.
