Hello! I am a licensed professional counselor and have been working in the field since my internship in 2019. I graduated with my Master of Art in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kutztown University in May of 2020 and began my career working with people who experienced substance use disorder. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). I joined this field because I really wanted to help people grow and heal so you can become the healthiest version of you.
A first session with me is spent building rapport by getting to know what you hope to accomplish in therapy, setting a realistic treatment plan based on those hopes, and discussing treatment expectations for both the client and the therapist.
As a therapist for the past 5 and a half years working with clients aged 18 an older, I have developed the skills needed to provided emotional support and skills to help you build your "toolbox" to cope with situations and triggers as a way to achieve your treatment goals.
This therapeutic technique is used as a way to navigate through our past and understand how it affects our present and future experiences while working to improve decision making.
This treatment helps clients recognize maladaptive behaviors and finding ways to learn healthier ones to improve mindset and behavior.
Mindfulness therapy teaches us how to sit in uncomfortable emotions and helps you find ways to accept them while not letting them define you.
Somatic therapy is helpful for those who have experienced trauma and works to heal from trauma while being aware of the physical affects trauma has on our nervous system and physical sensations. This teaches us how to self-regulate through grounding and setting boundaries.
Trauma informed care is used with all types of therapy as a way to help the client feel comfortable and safe while progressing through therapy to help you feel seen and understood.
