Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) based in North Carolina. I received my Masters from Madonna University and my Doctoral degree from Oakland University. I have been in practice for over 22 years. I am who people of all ages consult with when they are struggling with embodying their true and best self. Teaming up with me has helped many people get "unstuck and out of the funk" ultimately moving towards their unique version of living their best life.
In our first session, you can expect a welcoming and judgment-free space where you are encouraged to speak openly and share what's on your mind. I’m here to listen and support you without any preconceived notions. Our work together will be most effective if you come ready to engage and put in the effort. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where we can collaborate to achieve your goals.
As a professional counselor, my strengths lie in being straightforward and supportive while remaining aligned with you and your therapy goals. I am committed to providing honest, caring, and professional counseling. My approach is empathetic and ethical, ensuring a nonjudgmental space where you feel understood and respected. I see myself as a partner in your journey, dedicated to collaborating with you while empowering you to do the work necessary for your growth and progress.
With over 22 years of professional counseling experience, I employ an eclectic therapy approach, drawing on a range of therapeutic modalities. This method allows me to integrate specific aspects of various treatment strategies, blending the most effective interventions available in the mental health field. By tailoring the approach to fit your unique needs, eclectic treatment ensures that the care you receive is customized rather than adhering to a "one size fits all" model. This flexibility enables us to address your concerns in the most effective manner possible.
Being kind to yourself can be a challenge when you are in a crisis or a personal challenge. In working with new clients, I incorporate Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) as a key component of our treatment. CFT is designed to help individuals develop and enhance their capacity for self-compassion and empathy, which can be particularly beneficial for addressing issues such as self-criticism, low self-esteem, and emotional distress. Through CFT, we will work together to cultivate a compassionate mindset by focusing on understanding and accepting your experiences with kindness and empathy. This approach involves exercises and strategies aimed at fostering a supportive inner dialogue and reducing self-judgment. By integrating compassion into our sessions, we aim to create a more nurturing and effective therapeutic environment, promoting healing and resilience.
