Hello, ya'll! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a decade of experience in mental health care. I think you are incredibly brave to be seeking a therapist to walk alongside you in your healing journey. I truly see my role as a guide first and foremost. One who supports and gently shines the light on some of the uncomfortable experiences we hide in our darkest spaces which may be holding us back from transforming into the highest version of ourselves. I utilize various treatment modalities in practice, and my experience is diverse-- working with individuals & couples, children & teens who have a history of trauma, sexual abuse, addiction, grief/loss, Military/Veterans, LGBTQ+.
Our first session is informal--a "getting to know each other" phase. I will share with you my background, and why I chose this field as a career path. We will discuss why you are here (what is your complaint or challenge) and your goals for therapy if you have any. We will touch on any treatment you have had in the past and what that looked like.
My strengths as a provider are I guide others from a loving and compassionate perspective seeing multiple viewpoints of the individual, family, community and greater world. I believe my deep connection to spirituality allows me a different view which assists in remaining nonjudgmental, curious, observant and guide the individual to seeing these points in a way that is easier to process and integrate.
Individuals who are curious about who they are, how they came to be and is interested in self-discovery and transformation. The journey to get there is not always pretty or comfortable, but resting in those spaces of discomfort is necessary to learn and grow.
I use CBT, a technique which highlights the interconnectedness of our thoughts, emotions (feelings) and behaviors. CBT is beautiful in that it empowers individuals to gain awareness into our own patterns of negative or harmful thinking which encourages negative or uncomfortable emotions and behaviors. CBT focuses on reframing or replacing those harmful thoughts with positive or healthier ones which reduces phobias, anxiety and/or depression.
I use CPT for individuals who have experienced trauma who may have challenges with cognitive distortions or negative perceptions related to their experiences. With this technique, I focus on processing those traumatic experiences which are impacting thoughts, emotions, and perceptions of the self, others, and the world. CPT encourages the individual to shift into a more healthful and realistic thought process.
I use DBT, a technique most helpful for individuals who experience intense emotions which creates challenges with school, work, and relationships. DBT is an amazing technique for individuals who would like to build a greater awareness into self and others, tolerate and cope with distressing emotions, and build interpersonal effectiveness among all relationships and systems.
Couples therapy is beneficial for any couple who may be seeking a more cohesive partnership by gaining awareness each individual has been molded into the human they are because of family, culture, values, and/or experiences. I enjoy working with couples in a non-judgmental co-creating way to enhance the awareness they gain, build skills for resolving conflicts, and grow in connection.
I utilize faith-based therapy in my practice because a holistic view point of the individual is critical in the healing journey. Faith and spirituality are as important to our health and wellbeing as our thoughts, emotions and behaviors. I use faith-based therapy with individuals who identify with practicing a religion and/or spirituality because it is a beautifully connecting and grounding support for achieving overall wellness.
