Teenage years are stressful on the teen and the family. Is your teen having a hard time making healthy choices? Are they angry for no apparent reason? Is your teen a bully or are they being bullied? Parenting a teenager is difficult. I also specialize in counseling teens that identify as LGBTQ+. It can get better, with the right help. I’ve been working with teens for many years and I know how tough it can be on the teen and the parent. Imagine your teen being able to communicate their thoughts/feelings without anger or resentment. I can help you build trust with your teen and communicate without arguing in family counseling.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we will review your intake questions and get to know each other. We will have an opportunity to discuss your questions and what brings you to counseling.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My passion is to enrich the lives of parents and teens through family counseling. I understand families and know how to help you. Family counseling will help you improve communication, express feelings, modify behavior, develop problem solving skills and much more. Prior to becoming a counselor, I was a high school teacher for 11 years. This gives me a unique perspective to help you and your teen through the challenges they face.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance is the key to change along with identifying and clarifying your values to make goals that will truly enhance your life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Invalidation can be very traumatic. Learning to deal with that through techniques centered around the five senses can help you feel grounded and stable as you navigate life.

Gender-affirming therapy

Everyone has a unique gender representation, having that affirmed and supported is vital for anyone dealing with dysphoria.
