I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 10 years of field experience. I specialize in clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues but have worked with clients with numerous mental health and life struggles including parenting issues, bipolar, self-harm, grief/loss, and much more. I know starting therapy can feel scary and overwhelming so I strive to provide a warm, welcoming therapeutic environment. A strong relationship is the most important thing to me during the therapeutic process. Once that is established then we can focus on the work that needs to be done.
I always want my clients to feel welcome and accepted when working with me. I want clients to feel comfortable because oftentimes they are sharing very personal information and I always want to be respectful of that. Once clients feel safe and respected I want them to take away ideas that challenge their thinking. Additionally, I want clients to leave with skills that help make them feel better about themselves and improve their life.
I tailor the therapeutic approach that I use based on the needs of the individual client. Therapy is not a one size fits all and I don't believe in getting stuck in one certain therapy type. Some approaches that I draw from are cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths perspective, solution-focused therapy, client-focused therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. No matter what approach I may use, I always look at my clients with a strengths perspective framework.
I feel my biggest strength is building a positive therapeutic relationship with clients. The relationship is so important to the therapeutic process and the only way the clients can feel safe to explore what’s going on. I mostly work with clients with depression and anxiety, as well as trauma but I very worked with clients with many mental health struggles. I meet clients where they are at.
