Hi! I’m Akisha, and I’m excited to welcome you to my practice, **The Answer Within**. I truly believe that everyone has the answers inside them, and I’m here to help you visualize and uncover them! With 10 years of experience in private practice and over 15 years as a school counselor, my goal is to support you on your journey to becoming your best self. Let’s embark on this wonderful adventure together!
In your first session with me, you can expect a warm and welcoming space where we start building a trusting relationship. As a person-centered therapist, I believe you are the pilot in this process, and I’m here to provide you with the tools you need for growth. I’ll ask some questions to help guide our future sessions, but my focus is on supporting you as you work toward becoming a better version of yourself.
My greatest strengths are my attentive listening and creating a warm, comfortable space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions. I take pride in building strong, supportive relationships, and many clients return or eagerly await my availability because they feel valued. I'm also here to gently challenge you by asking the tough questions you may hesitate to ask yourself, helping you grow and discover more about who you are.
At my practice, I focus on person-centered therapy because I believe healing happens when you feel safe to be yourself. By building a trusting and comfortable relationship, I help my clients open up and express their feelings freely. When you feel free to share, you can begin to release the weight of your trauma and worries. I’ve seen how powerful this approach can be in allowing people to heal on their own terms, with me there to support them along the way.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because I believe in helping clients see things from new perspectives. Sometimes, shifting how we think about a situation can create real change in how we feel and act. With CBT, I work with you to explore thought patterns that might be holding you back and help you find new ways of thinking that lead to healthier behaviors.
