Hello! I am Jonnetta Appianing, Licensed Marriage & Child Family Therapist of 5 years of post graduate experience. Being a Licensed Mental Health Therapist has given me the opportunity to work in a variety of different roles, settings, and diagnosis from all cultures facing many of life stressors including, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideations, trauma, PTSD, OCD, substance abuse, interpersonal relationship, addictions and eating disorders. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with children, teens adults and couples. Throughout my years, I gained experience supporting and empowering people with different challenges and it has been very rewarding.
In our first session, we shall have introductions. I will gather relevant information. Since it is vital to have a good therapist-client relationship, we can both determine if moving forward with therapy is appropriate. If so, we shall begin setting goals. You will be asked what you would like to accomplish while receiving therapy.
Trauma- I assist clients with recognizing how unresolved trauma impact one life. I shall offer tools to help client work through trauma.Client shall learn how to heal while taking control of their life. Relationship / Marriage Issues - I assist clients with recognizing and improving difficulties in their relationships. This include but not limited to intimacy, parenting, communication, boundaries, value differences, jealousy). Anxiety and depression - I help clients to identify and address what is causing their anxiety and depression. I work with clients to change their meaning on situations, develop better coping and problem-solving skills. Use various strategies, including grounding and mindfulness meditations, which are helpful for many clients.
Has helped clients become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so he/she can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. Goal is to help client replace dysfunctional constructs with more flexible and adaptive cognition. Also have helped client change how one may think in order to change behavior
Goal is help you accept circumstances and make changes. Help client live life in the moment, develop healthier ways to cope with stress, offer tools to regulate emotions and improve their relationship with others. Been successful in treating eating disorders, substance abuse, anxiety, PTSD, self destructive behaviors.
Have been successful in empowering others to change by drawing out their own meaning, importance and capacity for change. Have used MI to strengthen an individual's motivation for a movement toward specific goals
