Hello. I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to you. My name is Alyce, and I am licensed as a clinical social worker in Georgia. I'm wondering if you have situations in your life that feel overwhelming and difficult to manage. Perhaps you are feeling down, anxious or just overloaded. It can be a challenge to cope effectively when you have numerous areas to balance in your life. Whatever you are experiencing, I am here to offer support, understanding and solution-focused skills to help you grow and move forward. It can be difficult to reach out to a therapist, and I believe it will help to know that I am motivated by my genuine love for people. I have a strong, personal commitment to provide a compassionate approach, taking time to truly get to know you and understand your situation. You are not alone as you work to improve your life. I will be with you and will join you in the important work of moving forward and improving your life!
In our first session, I will begin by introducing myself to you and telling you briefly about my approach and role in supporting you. I will ask that you share with me a little bit about what is happening in your life. We will review the intake forms and I will ask alot of questions to ensure that I have a good understanding of your situation. Our main goal for the first session is to get to know each other and to get comfortable talking with each other and sharing information. I understand how difficult it can be to share tender feelings and experiences, and as we work through our first session, I feel certain that you will begin to feel that you are in a safe, non-judgmental place and that you are working with an understanding and caring therapist.
My areas of strengths include: Relationships Depression Grief Support Caregiver Support Life Transitions Anxiety Parenting (especially involving children with behavioral concerns) Eating Disorders
While I offer a variety of therapeutic methods in my practice, I want you to be assured that I will identify the method and tools that will best meet the needs of your specific situation. I frequently utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients address and change negative patterns and thought processes. I would describe my overall approach as solution-focused with emphasis on practical skills and approaches to help you grow and move forward.
Based on your preferences and situation, I will discuss Christian Counseling practices with you to determine if this method is welcomed by you. I am a Christian, and I attend the Catholic Church. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, I will meet you there. I also want you to know that before I join you for each session, I always have a moment of private prayer asking for divine guidance to lead us and open our communication so that we can connect and move forward in the important work during our session.
I frequently utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy to provide structured skills and concrete strategies to promote healthy functioning and overall well-being.
If there are differences between us culturally, you will come to know me as someone who is eager to understand the differences. I will always be sensitive to how the cultural experiences of a client can influence our relationship. I will make every effort to join with you, to understand where you are coming from, and to move forward with you embracing the important elements of your culture.
As a previous hospice social worker and bereavement counselor, I am sensitive to the many situations that contribute to the experience of grief and loss. It can be difficult to move through the grief process, and it can feel impossible to think about things ever feeling better. I would be honored to hear the story of your grief and to provide strategies to support you in the work of processing your grief and moving forward.
