Welcome! I'm Violet Scheibel. First, please take a moment to acknowledge you've taken the first step towards bettering your mental health because, let's be honest - starting therapy can be empowering, confusing, or scary, all at the same time. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and many more. I believe you are the expert in yourself and I there to assist in this process. I see therapy like you are driving the car and I am in the passenger seat riding copilot offering new tools, organizing the tools you already have and providing a different perspective. More than any modality of therapy the success therapy is dependent on how you, the client, feel in the relationship with your therapist. It is not something to tough out and I encourage you to work with someone you feel you connect with, can be open and honest with.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing if you feel ready to do so. We will complete a Diagnostic Assessment within our first 3 session where I get to learn all about you and use this information to better serve you.
I strive to be self-aware and non-judgmental. I think it is important to repair things when I have been wrong and acknowledge it. I believe we are all made up of parts of who we are and to see someone is to see all their parts not just one moment or incident in time.
EMDR is a helpful tool in reducing the intensity of triggers and allowing for a sense of calm where one did not exist before.
You are the expert in yourself. In therapy you are driving the car and I am the co-pilot offering new tools while directing the ones you already have.
I use DBT modules of Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotional Regulation and Distress Tolerance in combination with other therapy modalities.
Each person's needs are different for therapy and I try to combine different modalities and theories to fit your needs.
There is a power in group therapy that one cannot experience in individual sessions.
