I have been a clinical therapist since 2010. I have my Masters of Social Work from UNCW. I have worked in many areas of social work and therapy including with families and children, adults, and various areas of mental health. I welcome all people including those that may sometimes feel discriminated against due to age, gender, ethnicity, or sexuality. My goal is to help others better understand themselves, and thus make the best decisions for their own happiness. I treat each client as an individual with unique needs.
My first session usually involves both the client and myself getting to know one another and exploring what it is the client wants from therapy in general terms.
My greatest strengths are my patience & listening skills. I try to meet each client where they are at, and not where I expect or want them to be.
I find that CBT is helpful with those wanting changes in their thoughts and behavior, and those willing to confront negative or less helpful ways of thinking.
Narrative therapy is helpful in confronting the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves and our lives, both true stories and untrue stories.
Solution focused therapy is helpful for those that find it difficult to change their story or narrative, and need assistance in finding a path forward.
