Hi, I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri. I currently reside in Florida and provide teletherapy for individual adults of all ages and groups for adults with mental health and chemical dependency issues. I have been working for the last 12 years in various settings including assessment and referral, inpatient, and intensive outpatient for a hospital crisis center. I have also held an outpatient private practice for 8 years. I enjoy my work with clients who are trying to learn how to manage addictions or depression and make positive changes to feel better, more self assured, and more confident in their ability to function well day to day.
In our first session together, an assessment will be held to obtain more details on what the presenting situation is and what challenges are being faced. Then I can determine how I can be of help. From there, I will develop a treatment plan to guide us for our future sessions together. I am also happy to answer questions about the therapy methods used and the therapy process.
I have several years of experience working with a diverse population of clients with many different issues. Client have expressed to me by the end of therapy they feel better, the therapy has helped them, and they were glad they participated in it. I am a kind and caring person who is not judgmental, but can see an individual objectively and with compassion and empathy.
I like to work with clients who have an open mind about the benefits of therapy and where it can take them. Therapy is a useful process to create opportunities for change. Positive things can happen with clients who open up and talk and have a willingness to be vulnerable to see their possibilities.
I have been using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice for 12 years. At its foundation, CBT therapy will help to analyze how your thoughts-feelings-actions are linked and how to change any negative or unhelpful thoughts about yourself or your situations. Using CBT has helped many people begin to feel better and improve the subsequent behaviors.
