New to Grow
Hello! I am so glad to meet you and have this opportunity to introduce myself. I am a licensed clinical social worker who has been practicing mental/emotional health services for the past three decades. I received my professional training at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. I have been practicing therapy for about 15 years. I have a passion for motorcycle riding, golf and pickleball. I'm a husband and father of 3 adult kids, 2 dogs and a cat.
In our first session together, we will spend time getting to know each other. We will briefly discuss your history and begin to understand what is most important to you. The time we spend in our first session helps us to begin identifying goals for our work together. My hope is that when you leave this first session you will have increased hope and fresh ideas.
I bring an open minded perspective to my work, prioritizing your unique journey and personal growth. I have an enthusiastic personality and like to use metaphors and pictures in my work. I believe that when we can visualize something, we increase the chances of understanding and achieving it. I also find that a little humor can be helpful at times. My goal as a therapist is to help you build resilience, understand patterns, and create positive change in your life.
My practice focuses on addressing challenges like depression, anxiety, addiction, grief, and self-esteem issues. I also have an enthusiasm for working with men and the unique issues they face. I offer compassionate, evidence-based support for adult individuals experiencing life transitions, relationship issues, emotional challenges, and health and wellness challenges.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is very effective in the treatment of depression, anxiety, worry, stress and trauma recovery. It is designed to assist individuals in understanding how unhelpful thought patterns can impact our feelings and actions. I have been using this method of therapy my entire career. CBT will help you to learn about yourself, heal from past or current hurts, and become empowered to build a renewed life of contentment.
Motivational Interviewing is a therapy approach where individuals work through the process of change by discovering their own internal motivation and what is most important to them. It emphasizes that each person has high potential, and through a collaboration with the therapist can overcome barriers that often get in the way of change. The therapist uses active listening, empathy, strong partnership and a solution focus to help guide the process.
Humanistic therapy is a client-centered approach that emphasizes the individual's potential for growth and self discovery. It assumes that people are highly capable, and with therapy support can achieve great things. It provides a supportive and empowering environment for clients to explore their experiences, develop insights, and achieve their goals.
