I’m Fahamisha (Misha) Williams, LCSW, a trauma therapist and founder of Nuanced Healing, dedicated to empowering Black women and Women of Color to heal from systemic oppression, reclaim their worth, and redefine success beyond patriarchal and capitalist expectations. With 15+ years of experience, I blend Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychoanalysis, and feminist therapy to help you dismantle internalized narratives of inadequacy, process racial/gender-based trauma, and cultivate radical self-trust. My work integrates cultural humility, somatic practices, and mindfulness, creating a space where your emotions are honored—not pathologized—and survival strategies like hyper-independence are met with compassion. Whether navigating anxiety rooted in systemic harm, reclaiming identity after racial trauma, or rebuilding authentic sisterhood, my goal is to help you thrive on your terms.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our initial session, clients can expect a warm, collaborative space to share their stories, identify goals, and begin unpacking how societal systems impact their mental health.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

For nearly two decades, I have served individuals and communities as a Social Worker, and for five years as a therapist. In this time, I have cultivated cultural humility, trauma-informed feminist frameworks, somatic integration, and empowered clients to redefine healing beyond mere coping.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I've discovered that I'm best attuned to serving women (particularly Black women and Women of Color) seeking personal and authentic liberation from systemic oppression, internalized misogyny, and racial trauma.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use ACT to help you align your actions with your core values—not societal expectations—while cultivating radical self-trust to navigate oppressive systems, using mindfulness and somatic techniques to ground anxiety in the present moment.

Psychoanalytic

We’ll explore unconscious patterns shaped by generational and societal narratives (e.g., respectability politics, “Strong Black Woman” tropes) to reclaim your autonomy and rewrite limiting stories about worthiness.

Trauma Informed Care

My approach centers cultural humility and empowerment, creating a safe space for Black women and Women of Color to process trauma without pathologizing survival strategies like hyper-independence or silence

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I integrate mindfulness with somatic practices to help you reconnect with your body’s wisdom, challenge internalized messages about “productivity,” and find calm through grounding exercises like breathwork and guided visualizations.

Feminist

Together, we’ll identify and unpack how systems such as patriarchy may adversely impact and distort self-worth, empowering you to redefine success on your terms and build authentic sisterhood rooted in solidarity, not competition.
