Hi! I'm Rubi, and I'm passionate about helping individuals and couples navigate life’s challenges. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, relationship issues, or personal growth, I'm here to support you with a compassionate, trauma-informed, inclusive, and non-judgmental approach. No topic is too difficult to address. I work with individuals and couples navigating infidelity, betrayal trauma, generational trauma, depression, anxiety, and emotional disconnection. NOTE: I am currently ONLY accepting couples through private pay.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session together, we spend time getting to know each other and know what you are going through to help you create a treatment plan that best serve your needs and goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am patient, I meet you where you are at, I challenged when appropriate, I hear you and I see you. When appropriate, I like to sprinkle some humor. When you are in session with me, you and our therapeutic relationship is the most important person and you have my full attention.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with the Latinx/Latine/Latino population, and I also love working with anyone with other cultural backgrounds. As a Latina myself, I want to help destigmatize and decolonize mental health for BIPOC communities. I use evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches to help you understand why you’re reacting the way you are. With the right tools, you can break unhealthy patterns and create real, lasting change.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

In working with individual clients and couples, first I look at the whole picture of the issue that brought you to therapy while meeting you where you are at in your healing process. I will identify what the best practice and interventions that meet your needs are. I am constantly updating my knowledge on the up to date research about interventions that often work! I primarily utilize a systemic and humanistic view which allow me to better understand your world from the inside out and help us create a balance within. Remember, our behaviors are learned! And I am here to help you break the unhelpful cycles and make history for yourself, your family, and future generations! In my work with couples, I help partners to replace negative conflict patterns with positive interactions and attempt to repair what hurt the relationship in the past. I also help with increasing friendship between partners as well as taming the horses: criticism, defensiveness, contempt, and stonewalling. The ultimate goal is to teach you how to resolve your conflict on your own and towards the end of treatment make myself obsolete!

Strength-Based

I focus on your internal strengths and resources instead of the weakness. I utilize your strengths to help you achieve goals and gain more resilience throughout life difficulties.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

A focus on providing clients with cultural sensitivity to creating a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences; the goal is to empower them to make positive changes while decolonizing the therapeutic process.
