With over twenty-five years of experience, I have a long history of providing successful therapy to clients suffering from mental health challenges - often driven by events in their past, such as childhood trauma, sexual abuse and domestic violence. As a licensed clinical social worker, I also specialize in connecting clients with additional outside resources to help achieve their goals. Each of my clients are deeply respected and loved, with an ultimate end to one day be free from the need for therapy.
We both work together to get to know each other - feeling comfortable sharing issues and beginning to uncover key issues to work on. Clients are provided advice and tips for dealing with daily life. Often, clients express experiencing a feeling of great relief and comfort after the first session.
Clients have shared that they feel very comfortable opening-up and sharing with me things they have not felt comfortable sharing with others. As a down-to-earth, middle-child, non-judgemental therapist, I wish for my clients to reach their goals and beyond, to experience a joy filled, positive and rewarding life. In essence, I have been told by previous and current clients that I make them feel special and treat them as precious. Clients say that they enjoy their sessions with me and look forward to it - because of the progress they continue to make.
I have witnessed a lot of growth in people by utilizing CBT, based on the idea that thoughts, feelings and actions are connected, and that negative thoughts can lead to negative cycles. CBT helps people to breakdown problems into smaller parts and learn to change negative thought patterns.
For many people, religion is an important part of the therapeutic journey. If applicable, my practice can help by leveraging your faith in the healing process, exploring your own religious identity, or navigating the intersection of your beliefs with life events.
Grief counseling helps people process grief and learn to cope with loss by using a variety of techniques including: talking about the loss, describing emotions and feelings building coping strategies, processing and learning to accept grief identifying negative thoughts and unhealthy behavior
I help people adapt to challenges by accepting that their thoughts and feelings and committing to actions that that align with their values, recognizing that pain, grief and anxiety are parts of life, and that we can develop greater psychological flexibility to deal with them.
