Hey! I’m Carey, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor here in Georgia. I am a University of Georgia graduate then continued my education at Thomas University. I enjoy working with mostly adolescents and young adults, although I accept adults as well, who may be feeling anxious, depressed, or simply going through a tough time. I view counseling as a partnership where both the client and counselor work together to achieve the goals that the client sets for themselves, and I am always excited and try my best to help those goals come to fruition.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During your first session, you can expect a getting-to-know-you game, activity, or just a discussion as a way for the counselor and client to become more familiar. It is typically a light, easy session! Afterwards, we will create the goals you are setting for yourself to accomplish during the time together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I chose counseling after my own journey, and I always dream of being the counselor that I needed when I was younger and seeking help. I try to be challenging but appreciate light humor throughout the session. I also try to keep an open-mind and have a safe, judgment free space to discuss anything on your mind. This approach has worked for many clients since I started interning as a counselor in 2021, and I can’t wait to continue my journey with you.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My approach to therapy is primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy while empowering you, identifying your strengths, and learning how to challenge yourself with areas you might not be as strong in. I also like to make life a bit lighter by adding some humor and laughing during sessions when appropriate.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used CBT since starting out as an intern in 2021. I typically have clients describe their thoughts, feelings, and emotions that lead to specific behaviors that they are looking to improve on or change. As a team, we are able to view thoughts differently, from a different perspective, or shift the focus. This allows the client and counselor to then follow up the same way with the desired behavior.
