HI! I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, with a Masters Degree in Counseling from Northwestern University, and a Masters Degree in Education from National Louis University. I currently practice in Illinois. My career of 30-plus years has included clients of all ages and a multitude of issues. My therapy practice is relationship-based, insight-oriented, strength-focused, and supportive. I have worked with many women in their various roles who feel overly-stressed, under-appreciated, misunderstood, disorganized, unsupported, and/or lacking in direction. I have also taught special education and Social Emotional Learning curriculum, advocated for families with children who have disabilities, and presented parenting workshops.
Our first session will consist of an hour-long opportunity for you to share your current concerns and questions, and come up with an initial plan to work together. During our sessions, I will listen and support you. We will develop a safe and nurturing space to explore the origins and nature of your struggles. Together we will identify goals and strategies to help you attain the peace of mind you desire and deserve.
Genuine curiosity and compassion, and sometimes humor; excellent training and ongoing professional development; and an extensive assortment of life experiences which have enhanced my ability to empathize and find perspective.
Everyone has strengths; very often these are overlooked or taken for granted. Using Strength-Based Therapy, I help clients identify and build on their positive traits. We work together to develop confidence and motivation to overcome obstacles and negative patterns.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy uses insight into past experiences to help us understand our present interactions with others and ourselves. I use this relationship-based method to help clients learn to make conscious decisions and have more control over their reactions to other people and to their inner voices.
Mindfulness Therapy allows us to slow down and become at peace with our thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I use this method with all ages, along with relaxation strategies and simple art activities to encourage self-acceptance and the ability to move forward.
