Greetings, I am an experienced multicultural clinician in psychosocial evaluation, behavioral healthcare & crisis management. My advanced skills within telehealth, diverse populations and structured treatment planning has contributed to my holistic approach to counseling and therapy. If you are looking for short termed solution focused care or long term exploration, I will humbly and honorably be a partner in your journey to healing. *Counseling can foster personal development and growing pains with intentional growth, if that's what you're ready for, I'm here when you are ready.
There is not many variations in the first session of clinical counseling. In our first session together, we'll start with introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. I will ask questions to help me develop a plan with you to work through in follow-up sessions.
Being an educated & experienced empath is my strength as a Behavioral Health provider.
It is not what has happened that effects us but, how we perceive/d it that causes distress. I am paraphrasing the theme of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, which also reminds us that the world is inherently unfair. It is my interpretation that we must accept that something unfortunate happened however, in order to move forward we also accept the uncertainty of existence and avoid making preconceived judgements from past experiences. In other words, be mindful and present.
Taking as much time needed to listen, asking questions without judgement and affirming the individual is capable of making positive change. These are the concepts that as a Motivational Interviewer, I engage in therapy with clients. It is essential that I engage with a mindful approach to motivate positive change and not take the role of "expert" in someone else's narrative.
We are living in a modern era of Humanity. Most individuals today have multiple aspects to our culture and identity. All of which are impacting how we experience our life circumstances. Being open to all aspects of an individual's culture is essential for effective healing.
There are over 400 psychological therapeutic modalities currently in practice. In my 15 years of experience, I have adopted many into my practice as a result of working with changing populations and immersing myself into a wide range of professional trainings. As a Motivational Interviewer, it is essential to meet the individual where they are in their journey, which means bringing the most effective treatment to the client, not trying to fit the client into a specific modality of treatment.
