Hi! Welcome to my page! My name is Misty and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I grew up in Kentucky where I received my Masters from Lindsey Wilson College and have been practicing for 16 years. I moved to Georgia in 2011 and made Georgia my new home. Working with me, you will find a unique blend of evidence based counseling and a warm, genuine spirit of Southern Hospitality. I believe that healing and growth flourish in an environment built on respect, empathy and comfort. I invite you to settle in and share your story in a space that feels supportive and deeply welcoming. My approach prioritizes making you feel truly seen and heard, while offering a gentle, open space where we can navigate life's challenges together, guided by my compassionate heart and southern warmth. You don't have to carry your burdens alone, let's walk this path together!!
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions. We will discuss your strengths, culture, diversity and values. Then we will dive into the specific challenges you're experiencing and how we can best work together with one another to assist you in meeting your goals.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
In my career, most of my clients will tell you it is my southern charm and openness that is my best quality in therapy. I create an environment where you will feel safe to be yourself. I believe in a strength based approach because you are the expert on yourself and already have amazing qualities that have allowed your growth to this point in life. I love to focus on helping you discover the strengths you didn't know you already had so that you flourish even more.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My strengths are working with adolescents and adults who have experienced traumas, depression and anxiety. I utilize trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, strength based and CBT techniques to help you meet your goals.
Trauma-Focused CBT
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy goals are to reduce the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and other trauma-related difficulties.
Strength-Based
I utilize strength based therapy techniques to assist clients with building positive outcomes using their strengths and support systems. Strength based therapy utilizes the client strengths to overcome weaknesses.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I utilize DBT treatment to build strong coping strategies, manage intense emotions, and improve relationships. DBT focuses on mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize cognitive behavior therapy to process negative thought processes, restructuring of negative behaviors and develop strong coping skills to utilize in future areas of needs for clients in the future.

I liked that Misty listened to what my goals were and gave me the clear impression that she can help me as I navigate a recent trauma. I also liked that she's not going to ask for me to recount things without equipping me with the tools I need to deal with them. I also respect her willingness to share information about herself to help me connect with her.

Misty is truly fantastic - I think I finally found a great therapist and I've definitely been through a few. She has a calming personality and stays focused on ways to help me be more calm and happy with myself and with my husband.....which is why I'm here. I've only had a few sessions with her, but I am confident she will be helpful with working through some of my traumas and issues in life and look forward to more sessions to come.
