Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS). I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Rehabilitation counseling from North Carolina Agricultural & State University. I have more than 7 years of experience serving various populations in Outpatient and Inpatient settings. I have experience providing individual & group therapy to children, adolescents and adults struggling with a variety of issues and concerns including substance abuse, serious and persistent mental illness, criminal justice involvement, and mood disorder.
Our first session is the introduction and intake session. We will introduce ourselves, discuss any questions about the therapeutic process, I will gather information about the presenting concerns, obtain some history, and discover what goals you would like to accomplish during the therapeutic process.
I have worked in a variety of different population settings such as the criminal justice system, community mental health, Inpatient psychiatric hospital setting, domestic violence victims, substance abuse individual and group counseling, family therapy, private practice, and with the military population. My background has helped me become more diverse in serving different individuals and cultures within my community.
I help my clients explore thinking patterns that may lead to unhealthy behaviors. I will help guide my clients into exploring more positive coping strategies to help improve overall mood.
I help guide my clients to shift their focus from problems to more focus on their strengths and solutions which helps empower and motivate them towards positive change.
I provide a safe space for my clients to process, explore, and share their feelings, thoughts, and concerns with understanding and empathy. The client is the expert on their lives and I am here to help assist them to become more empowered and motivated towards change.
I will provide my clients with information about the therapeutic process and insight into their condition to help them be more knowledgeable and equipped to manage their condition on an individual basis or as a family unit.
I help my clients focus on the present by helping them focus more on changing thinking patterns and behaviors in addition to creating new meaningful connections with others and setting goals.
