My name is Katharine, or Katie, and I have been practicing clinical social work in community based settings for 9 years. I currently provide therapeutic services as a License Clinical Social Worker or LCSW. I started my career in New York City providing behavioral services to older adults facing eviction due to hoarding disorder. Once I moved to Los Angeles, I worked as a forensic therapist to individuals in and transitioning out of the criminal justice system. I currently reside in Los Angeles, California and provide tele-mental health therapy services. I work with adults who are seeking therapy to process and address mental health problems while utilizing behavioral skills to support their overall treatment.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I take a client-centered approach to working with individuals. In the first session, we will begin with a brief introduction and explore presenting problems and goals you would like to address in therapy. Importantly, I foster a safe an open environment for all of my clients. This means that we go at your pace, and I meet you were you are at. You will not be expected to divulge any information in the first session that you do not feel comfortable expressing.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have worked in crisis environments throughout my entire career as a Clinical Social Worker. I am calm and level headed, and I approach each client with with empathy, understanding, and compassion. My style of interacting is also direct and collaborative. My strengths allow me to create a treatment plan tailored for your individual needs.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have extensive experience working with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and mood disorders. Within the past three years, I have focused on treating adults with complex mental health and co-occurring disorders including substance use disorders. Most of my clientele are adults experiencing a degree of mental health problems, and are seeking to improve their quality of life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to support clients in understanding the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and actions. This type of therapy is helpful to support client's in seeing tangible improvements to their mental health.

Motivational Interviewing

This treatment method allows for myself and the client to join and collaborate in their treatment. Motivational Interviewing allows the client to take utilize agency within their treatment.

Psychodynamic

This form of treatment allows for clients to process their thoughts and feelings while focusing on the here and now.
