Hi. I’m Lynette Horton. I am a licensed professional counselor with a mental health service provider qualification in TN. Asking for help can feel scary at times and I applaud you for taking the first step in making a life worth living. I provide a safe calm place for you to come and talk about areas that may be causing issues in your life for right now.
In our first session together we will get to know each other in a non-threatening environment. We will discuss the challenges you are facing so that together we can work to provide you with skills that you need to overcome those obstacles.
Having been a former teacher helps me meet the needs of children and adolescents at what point they are in their lives. Being a woman allows me to help provide needed relief to women by being able to understand day to day frustrations.
DBT has been the main focus of my practice for the past few years. During individual sessions we will discuss coping skills you can use in your every day life.
EMDR is a dynamic tool to help your brain refocus on the memories you have stored. It is very beneficial to traumatic event relief.
DBT and EMDR are the main components utilized in the trauma informed therapy.
I am a former teacher turned therapist and am play therapy informed. Art, games, reading books applicable to the child’s situation, and other props are utilized in every session.
