I am Donna Orsatti, PsyD, LPC, and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I also hold a Certificate of Competency in Problem Gambling from the state of Pennsylvania. I am the founder of Courage 2 Change Counseling, a private practice dedicated to supporting individuals through healing, growth, and meaningful transformation. I specialize in working with substance use disorders, mental health concerns, and gambling-related challenges. My approach is collaborative and client-centered—I believe therapy works best when we walk alongside each other, with curiosity, compassion, and respect for your lived experience. Reaching out for support takes courage. My goal is to provide a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore challenges, build insight, and move toward the changes you want in your life. You don’t have to do it alone.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. I provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you are welcome to share at your own pace. Together, we’ll explore your current concerns, goals for therapy, and what you hope to change or better understand in your life. This may include discussing relevant personal history, important relationships, and any challenges you’re currently experiencing. From there, we’ll begin to identify meaningful goals for treatment—whether that involves reducing symptoms, building coping skills, supporting recovery, healing from trauma, or creating a safe space to process life’s stressors and transitions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I approach each client with genuine warmth, empathy, and unconditional respect. Establishing a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space is always my first priority. I integrate a range of evidence-based approaches—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, humanistic therapy, and strengths-based practices—tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals. I view therapy as a collaborative partnership. I walk alongside clients as they build insight, strengthen resilience, and develop practical skills that support meaningful and lasting change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to work with individuals at any stage of their therapeutic journey—whether they are brand new to therapy or have prior experience and are returning with deeper insight or new goals. I support clients navigating concerns such as substance use, anxiety, life transitions, and challenges with motivation or follow-through. My approach is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and grounded in meeting each person where they are. I recognize that change looks different for everyone, and I work alongside clients regardless of their stage of change—whether they are just beginning to explore concerns, feeling ambivalent, or actively working toward growth and recovery. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and empowered to be honest about their experiences. Together, we identify meaningful goals, build practical coping strategies, and develop insight that supports lasting change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a core part of my treatment toolkit because it’s practical, evidence-based, and produces measurable change. Skill teaching and cognitive work: I teach clients to recognize unhelpful automatic thoughts and cognitive distortions, test those thoughts with behavioral experiments, and develop balanced, evidence-based alternatives (cognitive restructuring)

Humanistic

Humanistic therapy emphasizes empathy, authenticity, unconditional positive regard, and respect for the client’s lived experience and autonomy. It assumes people are capable of self-directed growth when given the right relational conditions. In practice this looks like: Prioritizing a warm, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. Focusing on the client’s present experience, values, and goals rather than only symptom reduction. Helping clients discover personal meaning, strengths, and choices that align with who they want to become. Encouraging self-exploration, acceptance, and responsibility rather than pathologizing.

Strength-Based

I integrate the strengths-based approach into my clinical work because it empowers clients to recognize and build upon the abilities, resilience, and resources they already have. The strengths-based approach shifts the focus from “what’s wrong” to “what’s strong.” It emphasizes growth, resilience, and the belief that every person has the capacity to overcome challenges and move toward their goals.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

My approach is grounded in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), which emphasizes collaboration, strengths, and practical change rather than prolonged focus on problems or pathology. I work from the belief that clients already possess many of the skills and resources needed to improve their situations, and therapy helps them identify and apply those strengths more intentionally.

Motivational Interviewing

My experience with Motivational Interviewing (MI) is rooted in helping clients resolve ambivalence and strengthen their intrinsic motivation for change, particularly in the context of substance use, co-occurring mental health conditions, and behavior change. I use MI as a collaborative, client-centered approach that respects autonomy and meets individuals where they are in their readiness for change. In practice, I rely on core MI skills—open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summaries (OARS)—to elicit change talk and help clients explore the discrepancies between their current behaviors and personal values or goals.

Donna was very empowering for me, and she gave different perspectives on a lot of things. Incredibly kind and helpful with the things I am going through. I will be rebooking!

I liked that she is a straight shooter and tells it like it is.

I’ve put off therapy for years, even though I knew I needed it. Starting felt intimidating, but after my first session, I’m really glad I did. Donna is easy to talk to, genuine, and you can tell she truly cares—not just doing a job. She shares in a way that makes you feel understood and comfortable opening up. I left feeling heard, supported, and more hopeful about myself and what’s ahead.
