Shannon Davis
My name is Shannon, and I'm a psychotherapist providing individual therapy via telehealth in Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont. I have several years of experience working with adults on a wide range of behavioral health concerns, with a particular interest in anxiety, obsessive
I believe deeply in the importance of a strong and supportive therapeutic alliance, collaborative treatment planning, and ongoing assessment of the efficacy of treatment.
compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, depression, relational challenges, and life transitions. This work often includes navigating identity exploration, relational challenges, and life transitions. No matter what brings you to therapy, my focus is on supporting you on your journey of healing and growth.
First session
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable. My goal is to provide a space where you can feel genuinely supported and understood. This will be the foundation of our work together. By the end of our first session, we will have established a shared vision of your goals and how we will approach them together. Each of our future session will be anchored to those goals, with a steady mix of support and challenge as you move toward creating sustainable change.
Strengths
My approach is goal-driven and focused on real progress, while recognizing that growth takes time, trust, and vulnerability. I place a high value on building a strong relationship with you, one where you can feel both supported and challenged.
Ideal clients
I am particularly passionate about working with younger adults (18-35) and individuals with symptoms of: anxiety, panic, OCD, phobias, and depression. I truly enjoy working with any and all adult clients who are motivated to create meaningful change in their lives, whether that be rooted in addressing behavioral heath concerns or navigating life transitions, relationship patterns, or identity exploration. No matter what brings you to therapy, we can create a welcoming space to explore what is happening beneath the surface, build practical tools, and move toward a life that feels more aligned and fulfilling.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is an evidence-based practice that is effective for a variety of concerns including mood, anxiety, and trauma. CBT can help you become more aware of the patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be contributing to distress. While utilizing CBT, we will challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, develop coping strategies, and practice more effective behaviors.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the gold standard treatment for OCD. This model helps to take power back from obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors by gradually facing triggers while resisting the urge to engage in compulsions. This process helps retrain the brain to see these triggers as less threatening over time.
Attachment-based
I draw on attachment-based principles to develop an understanding of how early experiences shape current patterns of connection, coping, and self-worth. By exploring these relational patterns and templates within our safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, you can develop greater emotional security, self-understanding, and the capacity to form healthier and more satisfying relationships.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution Focused therapy is a goal-oriented and strengths-based approach which emphasizes what is already working in your life including your existing abilities, resources, and successes. Together, we will identify existing strengths and successes and build on them to create meaningful and sustainable change. By focusing on practical solutions and small, achievable steps, SFT can help you gain clarity, feel more empowered, and move toward the future you want to create.
