New to Grow
My name is Dr. Arnold Tilden and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Early on, we will set goals for our counseling and regularly check our progress. We work as partners in reaching our goals. My approach, although eclectic, is influenced by Albert Ellis and his Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy or REBT. The central concept is that our thinking (Rational) influences our emotions (Emotive), which drives or behavior.
Successful counseling relationships are based in trust and that serves as the target in our initial goal setting session. We will discuss what brings you to counseling, identify your goals, and begin creating a plan on how we can work t ogether to achieve them. I want you to feel heard, respected and comfortable throughout the process,
We work together to get results. I have had success in achieving counseling results. Clients say I am easy to talk with and appreciate the focus on achieving goals together.
My wheelhouse could be life planning for adults, meaning those who are 18 and older. I worked in college counseling centers for years and have considerable experience with the issues college students confront. Further, I am well acquainted with the life-stage theory that all adults face. My experience is that many adults spend more time planning summer vacations than their lives.

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy
This approach is based on the notion that our thinking (Rational) determines our emotions (Emotive) and then our behavior. It is very much like Cognitive Behavior Therapy, or CBT.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Together, my client and I explore the thinking process that leads to behavior. We analyze and often alter the "script."
