Hi! I'm Alexis and I am glad you are here. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in the DMV with over 12 years of experience and I've worked with individuals navigating a wide range of concerns from anxiety and relationship trauma to life transitions and unexpected turns. I’ve earned a Master's in Mental Health Counseling and a Nonprofit Management, and that dual background shapes how I work. I care about outcomes as much as I care about the therapeutic process which means you'll leave sessions with more than just insight. You'll leave with practical methods to apply to your everyday life.
The first session is an intake; it's a chance for me to learn more about you, your history, and what's bringing you to therapy. We'll go through some background questions, talk about what you're hoping to work on, and start setting goals for your treatment.
I believe healing starts with understanding; understanding yourself, your patterns, the stories you've been carrying, and how they're showing up in your life right now. Therefore, my approach is integrative, which means I draw from multiple evidence-based frameworks depending on what you need: CBT, DBT, ACT, attachment-based work, and trauma-informed care. What that looks like in practice: Sessions that are structured but not rigid, warm but direct, and always focused on helping you move from overwhelmed and reactive to intentional and emotionally aware.
A lot of my clients come to therapy already doing the work exercising, reading the books, doing all the right things. But something still feels stuck. Their successful on paper but emotionally depleted beneath the surface. Anxiety follows them to work and stress shows up at home. The same patterns keep resurfacing in their relationships and their tired of it. They want more than coping. They want to live with intention. That's usually where I come in.

Alexis is really straightforward and truly makes you think about things when you tell her and when she ask questions. I’ve never been asked such profound questions that really made me understand myself more and unravel feelings- I never thought I had. Doing this has helped me understand myself more and think about the tools I need to overcome how I’m feeling at the time.

First therapy session ever. Made me feel comfortable about the process and the steps involved.

Therapy is supposed to be a safe space and I received nothing but judgement.
