Hello, Thank you for reviewing my profile. Briefly; I am Licensed Naturopathic Doctor, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor I work with adult professional women dealing with anxiety, depression, past unresolved trauma, grief, stress and relationship issues. My philosophy is that we need positive human beings in our lives, to 'see' us and bear witness to our lives. In order for us to be fully human, we need at least one supportive individual who validates the part of us that needs healing. We need meaningful experiences to help us navigate this journey called life. My training as a Naturopathic Doctor affords me a lens to also consider, incorporate and integrate diet & lifestyle practices for your overall well-being. So, if you are tired of being tired, anxious, sad, depressed and you're just going through the motions, feeling stuck in dysfunctional patterns that drain you; AND you are willing to do the work to get well, then you need skilled, compassionate support to help you get unstuck and get your life back on track, so that you can experience purposeful living. As our paths intersect her, I start with the intention that you to "prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers" 3 John 2.
In our first session you can expect a comprehensive intake. This usually takes about 50 minutes. Here I will be asking a variety of questions examining the areas of your past and current relationships to get a sense of the factors that contributes to the ways you see and respond to yourself and others. I have been known to ask you the 'magic-wand' question: What would be different in your life after your therapy with me; the intention is to help establish a direction for reasonable, specific and achievable goals.
As I have been in this work for over a decade, I 'm cleared-eye on how to navigate the mine-field of destructive (and often subconscious) patterns of the limiting belief systems. I challenge dysfunctional and maladaptive strictures in your mindsets and often offer you therapeutic exercises, strategies and tools to counteract them. My intention is that you become emotionally aware of the undercurrents of internal vows/oaths that you have subconsciously subscribed to. The end goal is that you "graduate" from therapy with a level of confidence, resilience and wellbeing that makes a positive difference in your life and relationships.
I enjoy working with adult women. I help women improve, achieve and sustain their mental health resilience in their relationships (to self & others) and help them regulate their emotions using sound therapeutic and lifestyle strategies using modalities in naturopathic medicine.

CBT is a foundational feature of my therapeutic work. I teach clients skills and techniques to calibrate their emotions and consequently their mood. I focus on the process that helps clients become unstuck from the negative spiral of predominantly negative thoughts, using practical strategies to replace dysfunctional and maladaptive thinking with more useful, functional and adaptive mindsets.
I use the way our brain & mind works to introduce practical and tangible ways we can mitigate levels of overwhelm, stress, anxiety or depression with mindfulness techniques and visualization skills.
Many client are stuck in a mood-state that is a function of past unresolved trauma. In cases when I assess that trauma-work would benefit clients; I first teach how eye-movements often addresses the underlying stuck and stagnated traumas with the aim of mitigating its negative effects on their lives. I have been trained in both Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Multi-channel Eye Movement Integration (MEMI) and witness how it provides therapeutic value for my clients.
I approach my work with each client with an understanding that they are an integrated whole being of body/soul/spirit. When a client seeks out therapeutic counseling, they are on the trajectory for change. In this regard I also consider how to help them with diet & lifestyle changes for wholistic positive results. I join them in their therapeutic journey to teach and show how life can be lived with buoyancy. I teach skills, strategies, techniques and offer practical ways they can re-integrate the fragmented areas of their lives into a functioning whole.
Integration is a key to restoring fragmented parts of our being. My training as a Mental Health Counselor (LPC/LMHC) and a licensed Naturopathic Doctor (NMD) is a fundamental part of my world-view and therapeutic approach.

I instantly felt at ease when the session began. Carolyn is warm and inviting and made me feel comfortable to open up. She offered some goals to work toward and breathing exercises to calm me when I feel anxious. I am looking forward to working with her and achieving the goals set forth for me.
