Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first 1-2 sessions will be a friendly and easy assessment of what is going on (if you choose me, please commit to two sessions). Even though I am highly proficient at a number of counseling therapies, all therapeutic approaches are not right for everyone. The most important element of counseling is you! Even though I have 5 master's degrees and a doctorate in military help-seek behavior, please understand that you are the expert on what you are experiencing. Counseling needs to be tailored to you and your experiences. You are the expert, but you do not have to do this alone.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have a great and robust education. I have worldwide experience. I recognize that the client is the expert. Speaker at the 2026 AAMFT Global Systemic Therapy Summit in Bengaluru, India. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist supervisor (LMFT-S), licensed professional counselor supervisor (LPC-S), clinical marriage and family therapist (LCMFT), and licensed mental health counselor (LMHC). I am not an LP, NP, or MD and therefore do not prescribe medication.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I have worked with traumatic-event survivors from diverse backgrounds and cultures in various settings such as military bases, combat zones, hospitals, schools, embassies, consulates, to nonprofit homeless ministries. At Texas A&M University-Central Texas, I taught trauma recovery and systemic theory to graduate students earning master's degrees in marriage and family therapy.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT is a successful form of therapy that can help people improve their relationships by enhancing their emotional awareness, expression, and connection. EFT is supported by strong empirical evidence and professional recognition. EFT can help couples overcome various challenges and create a secure and lasting bond.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a type of therapy that focuses on helping individuals accept their thoughts and feelings, commit to values-based actions, and increase psychological flexibility. I have successfully used ACT to address a wide range of issues including anxiety, stress, eating, and depression.

Faith based therapy

Faith based therapy incorporates an individual's religious or spiritual beliefs and practices into the therapeutic process. Successful use of faith-based therapy can vary widely depending on the client's religious background, beliefs. I completed comprehensive Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy training and have a BA in world religion with an emphasis in Buddhism, spend significant time in the middle east, and completed a masters degree in Bible. It's important to note that faith-based therapy is not be suitable for everyone, and clients will need to choose these therapeutic approach if it aligns with their beliefs and needs.

Couples Counseling

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and possess clinical and systems expertise. Successful couples therapy can result in a variety of positive outcomes that contribute to healthier, more satisfying relationships. The specific goals and outcomes of couples therapy can vary depending on the issues the couple is facing, but some common results include improved communication, enhanced conflict resolution, increased emotional connection, rebuilding trust, better problem-solving: increased intimacy, greater awareness of relationship patterns, strengthened commitment, enhanced coping skills, prevention of future issues. I taught Marriage and Family Therapy at the graduate level at Texas A&M University-Central Texas.

Genuinely great conversation. Gave me insight that I hadn’t considered before and made it very appropriate for my situation, background, and depth of knowledge about the issues at hand. Would recommend to any man looking for marital guidance.
