Marjorie is a Spanish language Bilingual Psychotherapist from South America and has been practicing in the USA since 2008 as a MSW provider and since 2012 as a LCSW therapist. Marjorie graduated with both a bachelor's degree in social work and a master's degree in clinical social work from California State University Los Angeles. Marjorie works both in her own private practice -focusing on women’s issues and minority populations - and as a Psychiatric Social Worker for a large managed health care organization, helping clients with diverse psychosocial stressors or chronic mood disorders. Marjorie has extensive experience in social work, advocacy, case management and mental health services for over 18 years. Marjorie has provided psychotherapy services for adults and children from various cultural backgrounds, she’s sensitive to the linguistic needs of the clients served (Spanish/English). Areas of focus: Assessment and diagnosis formulation, treatment planning, counseling (short term specific or situational issues), psychotherapy (long term broader range for mental illness) and crisis intervention.
During the assessment (intake) I'd usually gather background information related to your family and individual mental health history, your areas of strengths and coping, as well as your symptoms (areas of concerns / problems that bring you to therapy). During the assessment session I will help you identify your desire outcome of services to determine treatment goals (what do you want to get out of therapy).
I am straight forward, I give you honest feedback and recommendations. I might not agree with everything you say or do. And I can challenge you to do better each time. You can count on me to support you and encourage you to reach your potential.
I primarily support women navigating life’s unique challenges, including aging, perimenopause and menopause, dating, marriage, divorce, motherhood and experiences of gender discrimination both in the workplace and in daily life. I especially enjoy working with clients who are actively engaged in therapy and committed to practicing new skills and therapy exercises between sessions, so we can make meaningful progress together and help you feel more empowered at every stage of life. While my focus is on women’s experiences, I welcome clients of all genders.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use this treatment method to help improve self worth, self-care and interactions with others that can impact your mood. Teach you how to challenge unhelpful thoughts, teach you practical CBT strategies and have better control over thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how this can apply to managing depression or anxiety symptoms.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I focus on addressing your short term goals without exploring the history of problems or the past but focusing on the present and future to develop solutions and apply positive psychology principles. Focus is building on what's working now and addressing a variety of concerns, including trauma, substance use and suicide prevention.
