Hello, I am Kimberly Henderson. As a former school counselor, I have been dedicated to supporting children, teens, and families for over a decade. In 2018, I transitioned into the mental health field. My experience spans working with individuals across all life stages, helping them navigate challenges and build meaningful, lasting change. I specialize in trauma, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, family counseling, and parenting skills. I also offer premarital counseling to help couples build strong, healthy foundations. As a licensed mental health therapist, I am passionate about walking alongside individuals, adolescents, adults, and couples as they grow, heal, and thrive. My mission is to create a supportive, empowering space where individuals and families can experience real transformation. I am deeply committed to increasing awareness of mental health resources and improving access to care, especially within underserved communities. I look forward to partnering with you on your journey toward growth and wellness. -Kimberly F. Henderson, NCC, LPC-MHSP 1-646-687-9932
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, reviewing informed consent, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. I will learn more from you about your goals for counseling and what is important to you as you embark upon this process. This will help me create a tailored treatment plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
My specialty areas are trauma, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, family counseling, and parenting skills. I also provide premarital counseling.
I enjoy working with individuals who desire change, but feel unsure about where to start. Many clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. This is where I step in, providing guidance and support to help clients not only cope, but navigate their lives in the right direction feeling certain that they can deal with what comes in the future.

Trauma-Focused CBT
TFCBT helps client to learn skills to cope with the emotions and memories that can come from being in a traumatic situation. The end goal is the help the client live in a victorious nature by teaching them that they can live and overcome the things that have happened to them in life.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I’ve been using CBT in my practice since I became a counselor. I use CBT to help clients identify their thoughts and how these thoughts relate to feelings and behaviors. Being able to control your thinking may help you to improve your overall well-being.
Daialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help clients with emotion regulation. DBT skills use acronyms that are easy to remember to help you to maintain focus on how to calm yourself when you get dysregulated. This method is great for individuals who deal with anxiety, anger, and emotions that can cause the individual to become overwhelmed.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational interviewing creates a supportive relationship between the therapist and the client with the goal of helping the client develop a reason for change. The premise is that the client will become empowered to take positive proactive steps in dealing with their problem or situation.
EMDR
I am an EMDR Trained Therapist! I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process traumatic memories by guiding them to focus on distressing experiences while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movements. This process is believed to help the brain reprocess the trauma and reduce its emotional intensity. Over time, clients may experience decreased distress and develop more adaptive beliefs related to the traumatic event.

I wanted to begin my journey with someone who identified with my race, gender, and respected my spiritual beliefs in an effort to support me with unpacking as I began my healing journey. Kimberly Henderson has been a great support with the beginning phases of my almost 2 year healing journey. I appreciate her pushing me to be the best version of myself using appropriate strategies that align with my needs and allowing space for me to share personal information confidentially without judgement.
