LPC, 6 years of experience
Welcome! I'm Amanda. I'm here to help you tackle the issues that drag you down; the concerns that keep you up at night; the fears that are holding you back. If you feel unfocused, uncertain, unmotivated, or misunderstood, you've come to the right place! I'm proud of you for taking the first big step toward self-improvement. I would love to schedule a session to learn about your challenges and goals for therapy.
We will use our first session to become acquainted with one another, to explore your current issues, and to begin defining your counseling goals.
I have six years of clinical experience as a counselor, and two years of experience as a professional organizer / chronic disorganization specialist. As an Army brat I moved frequently during my childhood, which helped me to understand and appreciate cultural and subcultural diversity. My approach to therapy is eclectic and tailored to support each client’s needs, abilities, and goals.
I work best with clients who want to be in therapy and come prepared with what they want to work on each session. We’ll work together to explore your trouble areas and to find meaningful solutions and methods of coping.
I believe people are inherently good, and that everyone has potential for self-reflection and growth. Understanding how a client's unique experiences shape their worldview is an intregal part of effective therapy. I aim to provide empathetic, holistic, strengths-based treatment for every client, no matter what other treatment methods are inclided in their treatment plan.
I have training and experience providing CBT-I for clients referred by sleep specialists.
Incorporating techniques and concepts from DBT often benefits clients who are dealing with depression, substance abuse disorder, mood disorders, anxiety, and ADHD. Adolescents may especially benefit from gaining skills from DBT.
Always eager to share Yalom's wisdom, I recommend this approach for high-functioning clients who are troubled by existential issues. Using this approach we work together to tackle concerns such as death, freedom, and the meaning of life, while aimingg to promote healing and personal fulfillment.
This short-term approach is ideal for clients who want to create change pragmatically and efficiently. Emphasis is put on finding solutions to present problems, as well as exploring future aspirations.
